Central Catholic Announces New Softball and Golf Coaches
Central Catholic High School has named Larry Jaworski as its head softball
coach, and B.J. Reichert as its new boys’ golf coach.
Jaworski has over 15 years of coaching experience. He was head coach at
Sand Creek High School in Michigan from 2007 to 2009 and served as the
junior varsity coach for two years before that. For the past eight years,
he has been head coach of the SGS Magic, one of the most popular community
programs in the greater Toledo area.
In 2007 and 2008, Jaworski’s teams won district championships in
Southeastern Michigan, and in 2007, his Sand Creek team won the Tri County
Conference (TCC) title.
Jaworski works as a district manager for the Dr. Pepper/Snapple group in
Toledo.
Central Catholic athletic director, Bill Axe, said, “In Mr. Jaworski our
committee was able to satisfy three critical elements of our search: a
strong connectivity to the local softball network, high school head
coaching experience, and the ability to teach fundamentals. Larry and his
staff are already hard at work to take Central Catholic to the next level
in softball.”
Jaworski replaces Norm Kujawa as head coach. Kujawa led the Lady Irish to
a 19-9 mark last season, including a district title and an appearance in
the championship game of the Toledo City League.
B.J. Reichert will take over the Central Catholic boys’ golf program from
his grandfather, Cot Marquette. Marquette led the Irish golfers for a
very successful six-year stint, and Reichert was an assistant during those
years.
Reichert graduated from Central Catholic in 1997 and was captain of the
1996 Irish golf team. He graduated from Tri State University (now Trine)
in Angola, Indiana in 2001. At Tri State, he lettered three years in golf
and was a graduate of the highly acclaimed golf management program.
Reichert worked as a PGA professional at Brandywine Country Club and
Cobblestone Golf Course in Kendallville, Indiana. Presently he is in
medical sales. He and his wife, Connie, have a three-year-old daughter
and are expecting their second child in February.
Athletic director, Bill Axe, said, “B.J. knows our golfers and their
strengths and weaknesses. He has high ambitions for our golf program,
many new ideas, and the ability to see them through.”
